Our Build Process
Initial Consultation and Site Survey
Our initial consultation will happen over the phone and we will start with getting a project brief from yourself. From the project brief we will be able to offer advice and arrange a date for us to conduct a face to face consultation and site survey. This is also where we agree on the design package included.
Design and Quotation
Following on from the initial consultation we will complete the design to the specification agreed for the project and provide a full, detailed quotation and specification for the works.
Groundworks
This is the first stage of the build and will start with the dig out and waste removal. Then we will complete any drainage works required and foundation, followed by stoning up ready for paving.
Landscaping
This is where the project really starts to come together as the paving starts going down along with all the other visual parts of the project such as lawns, planting, tiling etc.
Finishing Touches and Handover
After the main landscaping is done there will be the small, less visually obvious but vitally important jobs to complete such as grouting the tiles. Following the completion of this, the site will be tidied, cleaned and handed over with a handover document to aid in the future maintenance of the project.
Paving FAQs
Choosing the right material for your outdoor space is a significant investment. Whether you are considering the sleek, modern finish of porcelain patios or the timeless appeal of traditional stone paving, our expert team is here to help you make an informed decision for your home.
Will my porcelain patio be slippy?
While porcelain looks sleek, it is engineered specifically for the British climate. We select paving units with a minimum R11 anti-slip finish, offering excellent traction underfoot. This makes it an ideal, slip-resistant choice for your project.
How does the cost of porcelain patios compare to natural stone?
It depends on the finish you want. While entry-level, rustic, Indian sandstone is often the most budget-friendly, premium smooth sawn natural stone is typically, slightly expensive than porcelain. This helps to keep a classic look whilst providing a modern finish. homeowners wanting a sleek, modern look, porcelain often provides a more cost-effective way to achieve that high-end aesthetic without the premium price tag of sawn stone.
Do porcelain patios require much maintenance?
One of the biggest benefits of porcelain paving is that it has near-zero water absorption. This makes it naturally resistant to moss, algae, and stains. A simple wash with warm soapy water typically all that is needed to keep it looking brand new.
How long does a typical paving installation take?
Precision takes time, but efficiency is our standard. Most garden transformations are completed within 7 to 10 working days, depending on the complexity scope of works required. We provide a projected schedule at the start of your project, maintaining clear communication throughout the build to ensure a seamless delivery.
What is a realistic budget for a professional patio installation?
For most high-quality hardstanding areas, a budget of £190 per square metre typically covers a comprehensive professional installation. This is for the complete service including the site excavation, waste removal, a structural MOT Type 1 sub-base, and the skilled labour required to ensure correct drainage and a perfect finish.
This is just a figure to help you gauge your project as all quotes are project specific and each project has different requirements and costs.
Should I choose natural stone or porcelain for my patio?
The “right” choice depends entirely on your property’s style, your lifestyle, and your long-term maintenance preferences. Both are premium hardstanding options, but they offer very different benefits.
Choose Porcelain for Low Maintenance: It is non-porous, meaning it won’t absorb stains, moss, or algae. It offers a consistent, ultra-modern look with an anti slip rating, making it a “fit and forget” solution that looks brand new after every wash.
Choose Natural Stone for Bespoke Character: From budget-friendly Indian Stone to premium Smooth Sawn Stone, natural materials offer unique tonal variations. Stone is the superior choice for custom architectural features like bullnosed steps or matching coping stones, providing a modern twist on a classic aesthetic.
